Money Back Guarantee Program

 

 

Purpose

In accordance with Florida Statute 1011.803, the Money-Back Guarantee Program (MBG) is designed to support individuals in achieving self-sufficiency by offering a full refund of tuition to eligible graduates who are unable to secure employment in their trained field within six (6) months of completing select workforce education programs. This policy applies specifically to the Certified Nursing Assistant (Long Term Care) and HVAC/R programs at Sumter County Career and Adult Education.

  • As required by statute, Sumter Career and Adult Education offers the Money-Back Guarantee for the following programs:

    • Certified Nursing Assistant – Long Term Care
    • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
    • Successful Program Completion - Must complete all program requirements and earn certification and/or licensure, where applicable.
    • Attendance - Maintain a minimum of 90% attendance throughout the duration of the program.
    • Academic Performance - Achieve a final grade of C or better (or program-specific performance standards) and pass all required licensure or certification exams.
    • Career Services Engagement - Attend at least one Career Event or Career Day sponsored by the school during program enrollment.
    • Internship or Work-Based Learning - Participate in any required internship, clinical, or work-study opportunities associated with the program.
    • Career Plan Development - Work with the Transition Specialist to develop and document a Career Plan prior to program completion.
    • Job Search Documentation - Provide verifiable documentation of at least 10 job applications submitted in the field of training within six (6) months after program completion. Maintain communication with the Career Services team during the job search period.
  • Students who meet the above eligibility criteria but remain unemployed in their field of study after six (6) months may submit a Money-Back Guarantee Claim as follows:

     

    1. Submission Deadline: Claims must be submitted no later than 7 months after program completion.
    2. Required Documentation: Proof of program completion and licensure/certification, evidence of attendance, grades, participation in required events, career plan document, and job application log.
    3. Claim Review: The Career Services and Financial Office will review the claim within 30 business days and notify the student of the decision.
    4. Refund: If approved, a refund of 100% of the tuition paid by the student will be issued.
    • The student declines job offers in the trained field.
    • The student is terminated from employment for cause.
    • The student fails to meet the eligibility criteria listed above.
    • The student is not legally authorized to work in the United States.
